Stomach ulcer complaints and treat them naturally with the diet | Stomach ulcer experiences
I am an orthomolecular therapist and psychosomatic specialist. In my practice, I guide people with gastrointestinal complaints using an integral approach in which the body, nutrition, stress, and emotions are interconnected.
This information is intended as support and awareness and does not replace medical advice from a doctor.
🩺 What is a stomach ulcer?
A stomach ulcer is damage to the mucous membrane of the stomach or duodenum. This can lead to pain, irritation, and digestive problems.
The mucous membrane normally has a protective function. When this protection is disrupted, the tissue can become more sensitive to stomach acid and enzymes, causing symptoms.
🔬 What happens in the stomach?
Two important substances are active in the stomach:
- hydrochloric acid → helps break down food
- pepsin → an enzyme that digests proteins
Normally, the stomach wall is protected by a thick layer of mucus.
This layer acts as a natural barrier between the stomach acid and the tissue of the stomach.
In addition, this protective layer supports:
- the repair of the stomach wall
- good blood circulation
- cell renewal
⚠️ When does a stomach ulcer develop?
When these protective mechanisms are disrupted,
the stomach wall can be damaged.
👉 This can lead to:
- irritation of the mucous membrane
- inflammation
- ultimately the formation of a stomach ulcer
🍽️ Why does a stomach ulcer hurt?
After eating, part of the stomach acid is used for the digestion of food.
As a result, symptoms may temporarily decrease.
👉 But when the stomach empties again:
- the amount of stomach acid increases again
- the acid can come into direct contact with the sensitive area
This often causes:
- a burning or gnawing sensation
- pain in the stomach area
- worsening of symptoms on an empty stomach
⚠️ Symptoms of a stomach ulcer
Common symptoms
- Pain in the middle or upper left abdomen
- Burning or gnawing sensation in the stomach area
- Symptoms on an empty stomach or immediately after eating
- Nausea or sometimes vomiting
- Bloated feeling after a meal
- Heartburn
- Poor digestion (indigestion)
- Frequent belching or gas
General complaints
- Fatigue
- Weakness or feeling exhausted
- Poor sleep due to stomach pain
- Reduced appetite
Alarm symptoms (important)
Contact a doctor immediately if:
- Black stool
- Blood in stool or vomit
- Severe or persistent pain
🔬 Causes of a stomach ulcer
A stomach ulcer usually develops due to a combination of factors:
- Infection with the bacteria Helicobacter pylori
- Prolonged use of painkillers such as NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen)
- Increased stress load and reduced stress regulation
- Overloading of the digestive system
- Lifestyle and nutritional factors
These can be discovered via the ontlasting research or through a breath test by the doctor.
🧠 Stress, emotions, and the stomach (psychosomatic perspective)
From a psychosomatic perspective, the stomach is a sensitive organ that reacts strongly to tension, stress, and emotional strain.
The stomach plays an important role in “processing” both food and experiences.
When someone is under prolonged pressure or suppresses emotions, this can manifest in some people as:
- muscle tension in the abdomen
- disturbed digestion
- recurring stomach complaints
This does not mean that complaints are “all in the head”, but that the body and nervous system work together.
🌿 Holistic approach to stomach complaints
In my practice, I look at stomach complaints from multiple levels:
1. Physical
- Food that supports the digestive system
- Reducing irritants
- Supporting recovery processes in the body
2. Stress and the nervous system
- Regulating the stress system
- Improving recovery mode (rest and digestion)
- Learning to recognize stress signals in the body
3. Emotions and psychosomatics
- Becoming aware of emotional burden
- Recognizing inner tension
- Support in processing long-term stress patterns
🥗 What to do about a stomach ulcer? A natural treatment plan
For stomach complaints, it can help to:
- Limit the use of NSAID painkillers (such as ibuprofen, diclofenac)
- Reduce complaints with the gastric ulcer diet such as with cabbage and cabbage juice.
- Deal with stress. Take advantage of natural stress relievers such as exercising regularly, meditating, spending more time outside and sleeping well.
- Boost immunity and control inflammation. Increase protection against infections by avoiding bad habits such as:
- to smoke
- many processed foods
- a sedentary lifestyle. A highly inflammatory lifestyle weakens the immune system and makes the digestive system more susceptible to an infection caused by the H. pylori bacterium.
- maintain a healthy weight
- Avoid irritating drinks and foods such as alcohol, coffee, and spicy foods.
- Eating smaller meals regularly throughout the day (the food relieves the stomach discomfort)
The Stomach Ulcer Diet | Home Remedies for Stomach Ulcers
- fresh cabbage juice or fresh cabbage (contains vitamin U)
- or a supplement with vitamin U (DL-Methionine methylsulfonium chloride)
- aloe vera (superfood for the stomach)
- bone broth (boil for 6-12 hours)
- L-glutamine (amino acid), supports ulcer healing and also with leaking intestines
- steamed vegetables (easy to digest)
- licorice root
- try making good milk (with turmeric, ginger and cinnamon)
💊 Medication and stomach protection
Painkillers such as NSAIDs can irritate the gastric mucosa, especially with long-term use.
Antacids can provide temporary relief from symptoms, but it is important to understand that they primarily work at the symptom level.
In case of persistent or severe symptoms, it is important to seek medical advice from a doctor or a qualified healthcare provider so that a correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment can be established.
🌸 Experience & Vision from practice
As an orthomolecular and psychosomatic therapist, I see daily in my practice what emotions do to the body — and specifically to the gastrointestinal system.
Many clients come with physical complaints such as stomach pain, bloating, or a stomach ulcer.
But what is often overlooked is that these complaints are rarely solely physical.
Very important to understand:
In addition to physical symptoms, there are almost always also psycho-emotional signals present.
And these are not two separate systems.
Body and mind always work together.
I myself have also had a stomach ulcer in the past, caused by Helicobacter pylori. My symptoms included abdominal pain, a feeling of fullness, and digestive problems.
Here it is important to understand…
It was an accumulation of emotional stress and inner tension.
This coincided with a difficult period in my life — the period before my divorce, during which there was a lot of inner turmoil and worry.
It is precisely in such moments that our body becomes extra vulnerable.
My recovery process has been positively influenced by a combination of nutrition, lifestyle, and targeted support.

Hello,
I have ulcer symptoms and have been taking omeprazole for years to reduce stomach acid. That went fine. Now we have a new doctor and she wanted me to start taper off with the omeprazole, and yes, here we go again. The pain is visible in the center just below my breasts. And so again the acid which keeps coming up. I am terrified of a snake in my throat, gastroscopy and thought maybe you can help me.
Greetings Geeske Vries
Hi Geeske,
I've had an ulcer myself so I know how you feel 🙁
With the diet you can reduce the complaints and then you have to see what is the cause of the stomach ulcer: medicines, helicobacter, stress, etc.
I have sent you email.
Greetings,
Elena
I have had gastric acid inhibitors for years, but I have to vomit every now and then I suffer from stomach ulcers I already had a gastroscopy 5 times in the past 2 years, last time they said I no longer had an ulcer but I still have pain and vomit blood so I think it is back i want here from i hope with a diet that i get it under control gr A Bor
My son has had H pylori bacteria don't know if it is completely gone he is now on omeprazole which he has been taking for 2 weeks but still gets stomach pain when he stops what can he do
Hi Mahelia,
Helicobacter (stomach bacteria) can cause a stomach ulcer. If your son gets pain without antacids think of the ulcer.
Stomach ulcers are fairly curable with the help of food and nutritional supplements.
Which diet is best for me. Have 10. Stomach Ulcers. Think stress is the cause. I also feel seriously tired. Could this also be due to stomach ulcers?
Yes, you can be very tired from the stomach ulcers! There isn't enough stomach acid to digest your food and you can't absorb nutrients further down the road
and make like iron, all kinds of B vitamins, you can feel depressed due to low serotonin (also prone to pain). In most cases, the stomach bacteria are the culprits and stress certainly too. I had both :( not nice! But luckily you can treat almost everything in a natural way 🙂
Interested in an ulcer diet? Then we have to look at this individually.

In November 2021 H Plyori found with me. To the antibiotics and antacids, 2 more tests done and both negative for the virus. I still have stomach problems especially when I eat something, if I don't eat anything all day I have no problems and I feel good. When I eat my stomach goes wrong, it rumbles on all sides, my stomach hurts, I call it more discomfort. It's an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach that keeps me busy and won't let go, constantly burping and usually relaxed after a few hours. Don't understand where this is coming from..
Is this characteristic of a stomach ulcer?
Hi Rayen,
I sent you email
Gr.Elena
Hello,
I would like to have a conversation with you about this as I have tested positive for the helicobacter.
Which turns out to be the cause of painful stomach and duodenal ulcers for years.
I am not in favor of antibiotics because I have very bad experiences with them.
Can you give me more information about the natural solution?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, I only have natural solutions 🙂
Nutrition, orthomolecular medicine or body-oriented psychotherapy (I call it psychosomation).
Why do you have those ulcers in your stomach or duodenum? Stomach represents inner peace. Do you have that rest?
Where does that anxiety come from? Have you had difficult youth, traumas etc. Will look at this, in addition to nutrition and natural food supplements.
Just call me it gets faster
Greetings
Elena
I would like to make an appointment, I think I also have stomach ulcers. Only I am immediately given antibiotics that I don't want at all. Is this also allowed online? I don't live nearby.
I completely understand that you don't want to take antibiotics. There are many natural options to treat stomach bacteria and stomach ulcers.
I sent you an email. And we can certainly meet online 🙂 Gr.Elena
Pingback: Which helps against heartburn. Natural remedy for stomach acid
Hi
I also had a stomach ulcer and I cannot tolerate antibiotics, they just make me sicker. I now use Propolis, which is good against stomach ulcers, right? Do you have experience with this? Greetings Tamara
Yes, propolis is a good remedy for stomach ulcers, but it is not sufficient to cure stomach ulcers
especially if helicobacter is still present.
